Jefferson on SCO
Don Marti quotes Thomas Jefferson, in reply to Matt Beland:
The reason IBM shouldn't [buy out SCO] is the exact same reason why no government should ever negotiate with terrorists, and why kidnap victims should never pay off ransom demands. That last being particularly appropriate.
From what I learn from the temper of my countrymen and their tenaciousness of their money, it will be more easy to raise ships and men to fight these pirates into reason, than money to bribe them.
Use of the term "pirates" is nicely apropos given that SCO is now apparently distributing software (the Linux kernel and others) in direct breach of its licence. (The GNU GPL forbids parties who redistribute the software from imposing additional condiitons and this is exactly what SCO are doing at the moment.)
